Terms of service
These terms are the agreement between you and the business that runs Hexwork ("Hexwork", "we") for using hexwork.co.uk. Please read them with our privacy policy.
The short version
- You own what you put into your sites. We host them for as long as you're on a plan.
- Plans are paid monthly or yearly. Cancel any time and your plan runs to the end of the month or year you've paid for.
- If a payment fails, your sites go offline after 7 days and are deleted after 60 days if it still isn't paid.
- Sites published on a free hexwork.co.uk address appear in Community builds, where others can copy the design. You can switch that off.
- Don't use Hexwork for anything illegal, harmful or misleading.
1. Your account
You need to be 18 or over and give a real email address. Keep your password safe; you're responsible for what happens in your account, including anything teammates you invite do. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has got in.
2. Plans, credits and payment
- Paid plans renew every month, or every year if you pay yearly, until you cancel. Prices are shown on the plans page. We're not VAT registered, so no VAT is added.
- Each plan comes with monthly credits, which are used up as Hexwork builds and changes your sites. Unused monthly credits don't roll over. Top-up credits never expire while you have an account.
- You can move between plans at any time. On a monthly plan, moving up charges the difference for the rest of the month; moving down takes effect straight away and the unused part comes off your next bill.
- You can also pay yearly. A year is paid up front and costs the same as 10 months. Your credits still come every month, and unused monthly credits still don't roll over. Discount codes can't be used on yearly plans. We email you 14 days before a yearly plan renews.
- On a yearly plan, moving up charges the difference for the rest of your year straight away. Moving down, or moving to monthly, happens when your year ends. Moving from monthly to yearly starts your year that day, and the unused part of your month comes off the first payment.
- Add-ons are priced separately. Monthly add-ons renew until you cancel them, and stop automatically if your plan ends or you delete the site or account.
- Payments are taken by Stripe. If a payment fails, we'll email you and retry. Your sites stay online for 7 days, are then taken offline, and are deleted after 60 days. Paying before then brings everything back.
3. Cancelling and refunds
Cancel at any time from your billing page. Your plan keeps working until the end of the period you've paid for, then your sites go offline (nothing is deleted straight away; choosing a plan again brings them back).
If you're buying as a consumer, you have 14 days to change your mind. Because Hexwork starts working as soon as you subscribe, by starting to build you ask us to begin straight away, and if you cancel within 14 days we'll refund what you paid minus the credits you've used. Business customers aren't covered by this right, but if something has gone wrong, talk to us.
On a yearly plan, the same applies to the year. If you cancel within 14 days of paying for it, we refund the year minus the credits you've used. After that there's no refund, and your plan keeps working until the end of the year you've paid for.
4. Your content and sites
- You own the words, photos, logos and other content you add, and the sites Hexwork builds for you. You give us permission to store, copy and show it only so we can run your sites and the service.
- You're responsible for your content: you need the right to use everything you add, and it must be accurate and legal. That includes the information your site collects from visitors: you are its controller and need a privacy notice for it.
- Sites are built with AI. Check what it writes before you publish, especially prices, opening hours, claims about your services and anything legal or medical.
- To take a site elsewhere, download it any time on a paid plan, or buy a one-off export (£49) on the free trial.
5. Community builds and summon links
Sites you publish on a free hexwork.co.uk address are shown in Community builds, where other Hexwork users can view the published site and summon (copy) its design and pages to start their own. While a site is shown there, you give other users permission to do that. You can hide any site in its Settings, and sites on your own domain are never shown. Copies never include your messages, bookings, database, mailboxes or domain. The same applies to anyone you give a summon link to.
6. Acceptable use
You must not use Hexwork to:
- break the law, or help anyone else to;
- run phishing, scams, malware, or sites that impersonate another person or business;
- send spam or bulk email people didn't ask for;
- host sexual content involving minors, content that promotes violence or terrorism, or harassment;
- infringe someone else's copyright, trade mark or privacy;
- attack, overload or probe our servers or other customers' sites, or get round our limits and security.
Published sites are scanned automatically. We can take a site offline or close an account that breaks these rules, and where it's serious we may not warn you first. We'll tell you why unless the law stops us.
7. Domains and email
Domains you buy through Hexwork are registered in your name and renew each year with your subscription to them. If you stop paying, the domain isn't renewed. You can move a domain to another registrar at any time; ask us for the transfer code. Mailboxes are part of hosting and stop when the site's hosting ends.
8. Our service
We work hard to keep Hexwork and your sites online and backed up, but we can't promise they'll never be interrupted. We may change or improve features over time. If we make a change that takes away something important you pay for, we'll tell you in advance and you can cancel.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or anything else the law doesn't allow us to limit. If you're a consumer, you also have legal rights these terms don't affect.
Otherwise, we aren't liable for loss of profit, business or data, or for indirect losses, and our total liability to you in any 12 months is limited to what you paid us in those 12 months.
10. Ending this agreement
You can delete your account at any time from your account page. We can end it with 30 days' notice, or straight away if you seriously or repeatedly break these terms or don't pay.
11. Changes and the law
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll email you at least 14 days before. If you don't agree, you can cancel before the change takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales can hear any dispute (if you're a consumer living elsewhere in the UK, your local courts too).
